The dress code for rhythm gymnastics usually works like this:
Hair: the hair should always be pulled back in order to be off the gymnast’s face. So students are required to wear their hairs in a secured bun or a short ponytail;
Accessories: Except for small stud earrings and the elastic used for the bun/ponytail, students are not allowed to wear any jewelry or accessory;
Shoes: students must wear rhythmic half shoes, but it is okay to wear white socks for introductory classes;
Clothes: the usual dress code for rhythmic gymnastics lessons are basic black tops or leotards, black spandex shorts or leggings. Anything form-fitting and that will not restrict movement works because not only loose clothes can be a safety hazard in rhythmic gymnastics, but it can also prevent the instructor from effectively correcting positions and moves. Most academies allow students to wear jackets during cold days for warm-up time.
