Learner Center Approach

In the learner-centered approach, both the educator and student share an equal focus. The best thing is that there is high-level interaction between the teacher students, making them acquire more knowledge and skill about the concept. It also develops good communication skills in students, and they will be more confident through the various group projects. Overall grooms their personality and boosts their self-confidence.

It is mainly seen as the active agent; students bring their knowledge and past experiences to find a new way of learning. We might want to know why the learning center’s main motto is to give its school of thought? It engages students in various learning processes through activities, including group projects, stage presentations, gaming, brainstorming, etc. 

Teacher center Approach

This learning approach is usually bounded between 4 Walls and follows the traditional way of imparting education. Here the primary sources of knowledge are teachers, and students can learn from them. The teacher does all the talking in this classroom, whereas the students silently listen. There is less participation in physical activities. Hence, teacher Student collaboration is not common.

In fear of the teacher, the students often could not express their logical issues about the topic. Therefore, only 60% of students with the best concentration could benefit from this classroom. Also, due to lack of activities and other practical skills, most students could not find interest in the topic and could not able to learn it or understand it they tried to mug up notes. Which is one of the major drawbacks.

Main Difference Between Teacher-Centered and Learner-Centered Approach 

Teacher-Centered Learner-Centered Approach
The interaction between teacher and student is the less and only teacher or educator talk whereas the students keep listening.  More communication and interaction between teacher students and also student-student.
There is less involvement of activity which make students more discoursed. There is more chance that the student will not develop the confidence to ask logical questions. More interaction and activities include the debate group discussion, where students become more confident in expressing their drought and may feel freer to acquire knowledge.
There are more rules to follow and a very disciplined place though suitable for students.  It is often more chaotic and noisy.

Similarity Between Teacher-Centered and Learner-Centred Approach 

  • The common approach is that they both focus on education. However, the way of learning and imparting education is different.
  • The main goal of both learning approaches is to make students understand and bring the best possible way to make them familiar with the topic.
  • Both these include educators, learners, and the process of imparting knowledge.
